Tenant Spotlight – The Brewmaster’s Outpost

March 21, 2024 | News

Located at the entrance of Cap Sante Marina amidst a bustling hub of boaters and visitors, Little Chicago has become a go-to spot to grab a meal, do some local shopping, and, as of last month, grab your favorite craft brews.

As the newest business to join Little Chicago, The Brewmaster’s Outpost is a bottle shop offering a diverse selection of craft beers, ciders, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages. Not only is it the newest business in the neighborhood, but it’s also the latest venture from the minds behind The Brewmaster’s Company.

Brewing Success: The Origins of The Brewmaster’s Company
The start of The Brewmaster’s Company dates back to 2015, when founder Marley Rall opened a beer-themed bakery. Using spent grains sourced from local breweries to create baked goods, Marley sold her treats at local farmers markets, beer festivals, and even Pike Place Market. Building on this initial success, Marley, along with her husband Garrett, opened a craft taproom in Renton in 2016, which featured local breweries in the area. As their taproom quickly gained traction, The Brewmaster’s expanded into selling their own line of dog treats and other beer-related products. With an entrepreneurial spirit and vision for growth, Marley and Garrett soon had their eyes on a new opportunity: Anacortes.

Having family ties to the area, both Marley and Garrett were frequent visitors to Anacortes and always brought along their favorite craft beers for their trip up. They wanted a way to bring those craft options to the broader community. “We’ve driven by the businesses in Little Chicago for years, and I always thought it’d be a great place to open up our next shop,” said Marley. After reaching out to the Port of Anacortes to be put on the list of tenants, they received a call last fall that a spot had opened up. “And now, everyone can enjoy what we’ve been bringing up here for the last 10 years.”

The Brewmaster’s Outpost Experience
The Brewmaster’s Outpost focuses on providing the community with quality craft beverages alongside familiar favorites. Leveraging their connections within the Seattle craft beer scene, the Ralls take pride in offering a wide range of options, including specialty beverages that are harder to find. “You can find all of your staples here, along with a huge selection of beers you won’t be able to find at the grocery store,” said Marley.

Equally passionate about dogs as they are about beer, The Brewmasters Outpost also offers a selection of house-made dog treats. “We donate a portion of every bag of dog treats sold to Summit Assistance Dogs, a service dog organization based in Washington State. We’ve been donating to them for the last nine years since starting our business.” The Ralls hope that people will pop over to pick up treats for their dog and a drink for themselves.

The Ralls are excited to provide craft beverage options to Anacortes while also striving to be an active part of the community. They aim to support local efforts by donating their products for fundraisers and actively engaging with the business community. Marley expressed appreciation for the support and collaboration with the Port, highlighting the conducive environment that fosters business success. “It’s a balancing act of creating a small business, and we really appreciated the fact that there has been a lot of support.”

The Brewmaster’s Outpost has already seen a steady stream of business since opening its doors in February, and the Ralls look forward to expanding their ever-evolving selection of craft beverages. “If you don’t see something that you’re looking for, let us know and we’ll try to bring it in.” Above all, The Brewmasters Outpost prides itself on creating a community center that is welcome to all—both people and dogs alike.
