Wondering what’s happening on the northside of the Cap Sante Marina? Our North Basin Docks O-P-Q Rehab Project is in full swing and right on schedule! The $1.2 million project, which started last fall, is to address vital upgrades to the docks which will add a decade of useful life and further the Port’s commitment to first-class facilities for all marina customers.
Updates include replacement of the main walk structural timber walers, rubboards, and thru-rods which maintain the structure and strength of the dock. These updates will happen in 10 phases or “sectors,” to minimize the impact of our guests and relocation needs while we take on this large project. Our general contractor team, Massana Construction, has been doing incredible work and completed sectors 1 through 5 in September.
As we begin on sector 6 and the remaining replacement work, we’d like to express our appreciation to our customers for working with us through vessel relocation and any other inconveniences. Updates like this allow the Port to deliver on our commitment to provide top-notch, safe and reliable infrastructure to all guests at our Marina. The North Basin Docks O-P-Q Rehab Project is expected to finish in February of 2023.
The renovations at O, P, and Q docks are just one of many upgrades underway at the Cap Sante Marina! The Port is also planning to replace T Dock, a low-cost and publicly accessible commercial dock that currently facilitates $14 million in annual economic activity for Anacortes. Over the past few years, we’ve also spent almost $9 million on improvements including renovating A-Dock, upgrading electrical service at B-Dock and the web storage lockers, improving B-Dock parking lot at 13th Street, adding a high-speed fuel dispenser and completing routine maintenance and repairs, including cathodic protection of the fuel dock and pumpout float.
Thank you for bearing with us as we complete these important and exciting upgrades! With the support of our community, the Port of Anacortes will continue to grow and exemplify the very best facilities, staff, and operations.
