The Port of Anacortes is proud to welcome new tenant Rainier Welding to the Port and our community! The growing steel and aluminum fabrication company is based in Redmond. After looking all over the state of Washington for a place to expand their business, they landed in Anacortes, bringing 40 jobs and $20 million in annual work.
Rainier is leasing 32,500 square feet of office, industrial, and laydown space at the Port’s Bartholomew (“Bart”) property through 2031. The Port purchased the Bart property in 2019 and has already leased the entire property to multiple tenants.
The Port is improving the facilities to meet Rainier’s needs, including upgrading the electrical system and internet connectivity, refurbishing concrete, and replacing decking and roofing on the modular office building.
Rainier Welding was founded in 1975 by Richard Forster. His brother, David Forster, later joined the company, which was known then as Rainier Iron Works. The company moved to Redmond in 1980 and grew from manufacturing fireplaces and stoves to fabricating and installing steel structures of all sizes.
Rainier’s work can be seen across the U.S. and includes bridges, transportation and marine infrastructure, commercial structures, and more. The company has won numerous National Steel Bridge Alliance awards for quality and reliability.
We’re pleased to welcome Rainier to the Port family and to Anacortes. The addition of this growing Northwest business is just one way we’re continuing to fulfill our mission of creating jobs in our community.
