Port of Anacortes receives clean audit from the Washington State Auditor’s Office
ANACORTES, WA – The Port of Anacortes has received another clean audit from the Washington State Auditor’s Office (SAO), marking 29 consecutive years of financial audits with no findings. Representatives from the SAO conducted Accountability and Financial audits over the period Jan. 1 – Dec. 31, 2025.
“Our Finance team is committed to creating a culture of responsible fiscal stewardship at every level within our organization,” said Port Executive Director John Dumas. “The Port’s top-to-bottom budgeting approach, combined with consistent staff-wide financial performance communications, help ensure that we continue to manage public funds responsibility. A successful audit demonstrates that this culture of accountability is working.”
“Our mission at the Port is to serve our community through economic development, job creation, and environmental stewardship,” added Chief Financial Officer Jill Brownfield. “I am proud to say that our staff has built a culture that centers the values of transparency and accountability, which are essential to us accomplishing that mission.”
2025 clean audit
Representatives from the SAO conducted the annual audit this spring to review financial documents from the period Jan. 1 – Dec. 31, 2025. The audit focused on reviewing Port financial statements and accountability in five primary areas: accounts payable-credit cards, treasury activities, Open Public Meetings Act, financial condition, and annual report submission.
The SAO performs audits of state and local governments to promote accountability, integrity, and openness in government. Read the Port’s Accountability Audit Report and Financial Statements Audit Report to learn more about how the Port responsibly manages public dollars and assets.
