Port of Anacortes moves forward with search for new executive director

ANACORTES, WA – The Port of Anacortes Board of Commissioners has directed staff to begin recruitment for a new executive director, following a discussion during the Commission’s regularly scheduled meeting on Feb. 15.

The Port has hired a recruitment firm to assist them with a thorough process that will involve and be shared with the community.

The Port expects to advertise the position in mid-March and evaluate applicants on a rolling basis. Screening interviews are expected to take place in April, with the recruitment firm helping narrow the field to a handful of highly qualified applicants that will advance to onsite interviews in May. Onsite interviews may include a public meeting with the opportunity for the community to meet candidates.

The Port hopes to announce selection of a new executive director by late May if the right candidate is found.

“We aren’t going to rush this process. This current timeline helps us get things rolling so we can start talking with people who are interested in the position, and who value our mission and want to be a part of our community,” said Commission President Jon Ronngren. “We look forward to talking with candidates this spring and working with our community to find the right person for the job.”
