Port of Anacortes announces 2023 Port Partnership awards

June 6, 2023 | News

Each year the Port of Anacortes recognizes exceptional people and organizations with its Port Partnership awards. These awards acknowledge and celebrate significant strategic contributions to the achievement of ongoing goals and initiatives set forth in the Port of Anacortes Strategic Plan.

It was our pleasure to present these awards during the Anacortes Waterfront Festival Celebration Kickoff on June 2.

The Port awarded its 2023 Strategic Partner Award to the team at Insight Strategic Partners for their astute government relations counsel and timely strategic support to advocate for funding and policies beneficial to the Port and the Anacortes community. Insight Strategic Partners’ efforts during the 2023 Legislative session helped the Port continue building strong relationships with legislators and brought $2.3 million in state funds to Anacortes for three key projects: the reconfiguration of T-Dock, installation of shore-to-ship electrification, and construction of a commercial vessel pumpout station. These projects support workers, families and businesses in Anacortes and contribute to sustained economic vitality for our region.

The Port is awarding its 2023 Economic Development Partner Award to Metro Ports in recognition of the numerous living-wage jobs the company’s work supports at the Port’s marine terminal. Metro Ports is the Port of Anacortes’ stevedore, coordinating labor and equipment to load and discharge cargo at the marine terminal. Metro Ports and the Port of Anacortes signed an agreement in April to continue our long partnership, which supports sustained economic activity in the community and contributes to quality of life in our region.

The 2023 Customer Service Partner Award recognizes Pacific Surveying & Engineering (PSE) for its outstanding and tireless efforts supporting multiple Port projects. The Port specifically acknowledged Adam Morrow and David Galbraith for their collaboration on the North and West Basin Redevelopment projects. Their expertise and the partnership of the entire PSE staff yields high-quality work and makes surveying and engineering fun!
