Port of Anacortes Announces 2022 Employee of the Year

January 12, 2023 | News

Each year the Port of Anacortes recognizes outstanding employees for their contributions to our Port and community. We are proud to recognize Kevin Anderson as our 2022 Employee of the Year and share our appreciation for his hard work, diligence, and commitment to improving the Port and our community!

Kevin joined the Port in 2019 and serves as our Environmental Specialist in the Planning, Properties and Environmental Department. He has made significant contributions to our mission and our community over the past three years, including leading efforts to transition the Port to 100% green power; completing our first greenhouse gas inventory; eradicating noxious plants on Port property; managing and improving our stormwater, Green Marine, permitting, and other programs; and building key relationships with other ports, the City of Anacortes, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Washington State Ferries.

Kevin was also integral in the Port winning a Clean Air Gold Award from the Northwest Clean Air Agency (NWCAA) in 2020. NWCAA is responsible for protecting the air in Island, Skagit and Whatcom counties, and enforces federal, state and local air quality regulations in its jurisdiction.

“Kevin has made a tremendous positive impact on the Port of Anacortes since he joined us,” said Port Executive Director Dan Worra. “His accomplishments are numerous and significant, and he carries out his work with enthusiasm and a dedication to quality that does credit to him and the Port.”

The Port of Anacortes is grateful for all Kevin brings to the team, our Port, and our community. We are honored to work alongside him as a professional, leader, and friend.

Congratulations, Kevin, and thank you for all that you do for the Port of Anacortes!
