The Port of Anacortes Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on Sept. 3, 2026, to authorize Executive Director John Dumas to execute a purchase and sale agreement with Seafarer’s, LLP for the acquisition of 609 Seafarers Way. The Port completed the purchase on Sept. 18, acquiring the property from Seafarer’s, LLP for $2.9 million, with funding provided by the Port’s property tax fund.

The nearly 1-acre parcel is located directly west of Seafarers’ Memorial Park, sitting at the nexus of commercial marine activity and beloved public waterfront use.
The acquisition is a strategic opportunity that aligns with broader themes in the Port of Anacortes 2008 Comprehensive Plan related to Cap Sante Marina, including long-term stewardship of marina-adjacent lands, support for working waterfront functions, and thoughtful coordination between commercial marine activity and public access along the waterfront. Importantly, the property is connected on two sides to the Port’s contiguous property on the south and west sides of Cap Sante Marina (Figure 1).
Ownership returns Port control over a section of the easement on the road that is critical for marina fuel deliveries. It also allows the Port to guide any future use or development of the lot in a way that aligns with adjacent around-the-clock commercial marine activities, as well as with the community use and public character of Seafarers’ Memorial Park.
The Port has had long-standing interest in the property, which became available earlier this year. In August 2026, the Port and Seafarer’s entered into discussions that resulted in a non-binding letter of intent outlining terms for the Port’s purchase, subject to Commission approval. This letter of intent paved the way for Commission approval on Sept. 3, in turn enabling staff to create and execute the purchase and sale agreement for the property.
The purchase of this property represents another strategic move as the Port continues to activate the Anacortes waterfront, serving the community through public use and economic benefit alike.
