Each year, the Port of Anacortes recognizes an outstanding employee whose contributions have made a significant impact on our organization and community. We are proud to announce Cami Thronson as our 2025 Employee of the Year and celebrate her capability, accountability, and excellence.
Originally hired as the Port’s Administrative Assistant in 2022, Cami demonstrated exceptional adaptability and dependability throughout 2025. She willingly stepped into several different positions during the year, bringing her best to each role and leaving a positive impact on colleagues in every department.
“What I’ve always admired about Cami is that she’s always calm and professional,” said Director of Finance and Administration Jill Brownfield. “I really appreciate that she took everything in stride. She asked, ‘what’s next’ and said ‘I’ve got it. I can handle this!’ Calm under pressure 100%!”
In early 2025, Cami transitioned to the role of Project Coordinator. Her calm composure and work ethic made Cami a natural fit for this position in the Planning, Projects, and Environmental (PPE) department, helping ease their significant workload. “I can attest to Cami’s unflinching ability to stay focused, put in the work, ask the hard questions, and keep us on track,” said PPE Manager Kevin Anderson. “She’s been a fantastic part of our team—the glue that kept our group rolling through the summer.”
Cami also temporarily stepped into the Executive Assistant role while the Port conducted its search for that position, ensuring the leadership team didn’t miss a beat. She participated in the hiring panel to fill the position permanently before resuming her primary role as Project Coordinator. “Cami is a true professional committed to the Port’s mission, ensuring all the details are managed in our dynamic and evolving workload,” said Executive Director John Dumas. “Always positive, always a major contributor. We could not have ‘won’ 2025 without her!”
Cami’s adaptability and willingness to step up really gave new meaning to “other duties as required” in her job description. With her composure, capability, and great personality, Cami has made herself an integral piece of the Port team.
Congratulations, Cami, and thank you for all you do for the Port of Anacortes!
