Meet Jack Anderson

Joined the Port: February 2026

Role: Environmental Specialist

What about the Port’s mission is most important to you?

The Port’s mission of promoting job creation, economic development, and environmental stewardship alongside one another is what gets me up in the morning. Working for an organization that understands how these components can reinforce each other is inspiring and exciting!

What is the most exciting part of your career here at the Port of Anacortes?

The most exciting part of my work here at POA is how dynamic and diverse the workload is. Getting to be involved in everything from wildlife management at the airport to water quality monitoring to higher level planning and permitting makes it so that no two days are really the same. I’m learning all the time!

What is your favorite thing about Anacortes?

My favorite thing about Anacortes is the access to nature! I wake up every morning and get to see beautiful Mt. Baker (when it’s clear).

What is the one thing about you that would surprise people?

I’m double jointed in both of my hands.

What never fails to make you laugh?

Absurdist humor like Tim and Eric and I Think You Should Leave.

What are a few of your hobbies?

I love camping, hiking, backpacking, and paddling—anything outdoors really!

What motivates you to work hard?

What motivates me to work hard is the awesome crew here at POA. Everyone is passionate about their work while maintaining an accessible and easy to get along with attitude that has made my onboarding very smooth.
