Beginning in early November, you will notice even more buzz than usual at Cap Sante Marina as we begin renovations on docks O, P, and Q on the north side of the marina. Included in the plan are improvements to the main walk and repairs of some finger float structural timber whaler boards, rub-boards, and thru rods, which maintain the structure and strength of the dock. Other repairs include miscellaneous precast deck panel replacements, tri-frames fiberglass upgrades, and replacement of utility hangers. The Port plans to invest more than $1.2 million on this project, which will add a decade plus of useful, safe and serviceable life; furthering the Port’s commitment to first-class facilities for all marina customers.
This project will occur over 2 seasons. Season 1 repairs will include all of Q-Dock and one-half of P-Dock. Season 1 work will occur October 2021 through February 15, 2022. Season 2 work will commence September 2022 and be completed February 15, 2023. Season 2 will include completion of the remaining one-half of P-Dock and all of O-Dock.
Current moorage customers within the renovation area have been contacted by our harbormaster about relocation needs. The Port will continue to communicate with boaters throughout the project. We will also provide information through this newsletter and our Facebook page—watch for updates and renovation photos as we continue modernizing our world-class marina!
Renovations at O, P, and Q docks are just one of many upgrades underway at the Port of Anacortes. Over the past year, we’ve completed approximately $7 million on improvements including replacement of A-Dock and renovations of Pier 1 and Curtis Wharf. We also conducted a $3 million environmental cleanup project at Quiet Cove in 2020-21 that removed site contamination to ensure its safety for re-development.
Thank you for bearing with us as we complete these important and exciting upgrades! With the support of our community, the Port of Anacortes will continue to grow and exemplify the very best facilities, staff, and operations.
