The Cap Sante Boat Haven Redevelopment Project The Cap Sante Boat Haven Redevelopment Project will be completed as a phased development over the next 5 years. For the most current Phasing Plan for this project, click here.
| The Port of Anacortes recently received a state grant for $105,468 from the Interagency for Outdoor Recreation (IAC). The funding is awarded to help strengthen the pedestrian waterfront connections at Cap Sante Boat Haven by redeveloping approximately 2,500 feet of pedestrian shoreline esplanade. The redevelopment will replace the existing concrete walkways and handrails with enhanced improvements to create an interpretive viewing boardwalk along the shoreline. This boardwalk will be well-lit and will include several new public amenities that the existing esplanade lacks, such as interpretive signage and viewing platforms installed along the shoreline. Viewpoints will include picnic tables for the public's enjoyment while visiting our facility to observe the wide variety of maritime activities that take place on our waterfront. This work is scheduled to be completed as part of the Port's Cap Sante Boat Haven Redevelopment Project. |

Permitting and Environmental Review:
The dredging and redevelopment aspects of the Cap Sante Boat Haven Project have undergone extensive environmental review over the past 5-10 years. Sediment characterization testing for the Cap Sante Boat Haven was completed in accordance with a DMMP-approved Sampling and Analysis Plan and Addendum that the Port prepared in 1998. Results from testing (the final report was completed in 2000) showed that the Cap Sante sediments met with all chemical, biological toxicity, and bioaccumulation suitability criteria for open-water disposal. If you would like to see the Dredge Material Characterization Report for the Port's Cap Sante Boat Haven, or any of the federal, state, and local permits for our dredging and redevelopment project s at the marina, please call Connie Thoman, the Port's Environmental Administrator, at (360) 299-1818.
